For this project, I created an original character that could exist in the Star Wars universe. This drawing was created using the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil in the Procreate application. I also had to list all the various features, attributes, and history of the character.
I didn’t know what to draw at first. Is the character going to be on the Light Side or Dark Side? I choose Light because Light always wins people!
After choosing that, I was trying to figure out what I wanted it to look like. In my head, I couldn’t shake the feeling I wanted the character to be involved with water. I went ahead with that idea and as I was starting to draw I realized that I had no idea what I was drawing … it was a jumbled mess.
But then I had an idea to look at what scuba divers wear … and that was when I got inspired.
I looked up all the gear that divers would wear and I found some interesting pieces that influenced the character I drew.
My final project turned out like this:
I named the creatures “Emmersons” because it sounds like the word “immersion” and you submerge yourself in water and it’s a water creature …. yeah I know … GENIUS!
