This is what I had to do for this project:
Trace a short video to create a hand-drawn animation look and feel. Because it is hand drawn this allows for me to change the final outcome.
My professor did not want to trace it exactly as it is. But to try to abstract the final animation by varying line width or to what degree of precision that I trace. Another idea was to use different colors for each frame or different tools.
I had to explore how I could make the final animation much more than the original video.
- Capture a short video on the iPad Pro.
- Import the video into Animation Desk.
- Create a new layer and trace abstractly over your video.
- Once you are done, turn off the video layer and export your animation.
For my animation, I decided to write down in place of drawing out the whole arm and hand multiple times but the names of the fingers (i.e: thumb, index, middle, ring, pinky,) the hand, wrist, and arm.
I also had rings on that day so I made sure to incorporate them as well.
The final product was over 100 frames long for 8 seconds … my hand was cramped for the rest of the day…
