I chose to re-create Ed Sheeran’s song “Shape of You” for this project. By the end of this assignment, I never wanted to listen to that song…ever…again…
I had to create my own version of an existing song/melody/piece/idea. A “cover” if you will…
Technical Parameters:
- You may write this piece using any combination of (a) GarageBand for iPad (b) GarageBand for Mac, and/or (c) Logic Pro X.
- All content will consist of MIDI regions (i.e. all software instruments)
- NO prepackaged Apple loops allowed
- NO use of Smart Instruments allows (including Smart Drummer)
- Arpeggiator IS ok.
- Sample (iPad) is OK.
- Audio may be used IF recording of YOU…
- Audio from your original song may be used if you have a creative purpose

My Piece:
I wanted to do this song differently and go for a less “poppy” vibe. I wanted the Plastic Nylon Guitar track to act as the Vocals. I added a lot of strings and piano tracks to give it an instrumental feel.
This is not my best work, but I am very proud of it. I would change a couple of things to the song though. I would make it less than 6 minutes. I would also either taken Sheeran’s vocals and/or record my own so I was not picking at the keys making it a little annoying to listen to.
